The Freelance Writer’s Gratitude Prayer

Today I have to give thanks for being a freelancer writer.
I am grateful for the ability to earn a living in my underwear without having to take it off.
Not having to get up at 6.30am
Never having to burn myself with an iron again when ironing an impossible- to-iron shirt while I have a hangover first thing in the morning after 4 hours sleep because the game went into extra time along with my occasional mid-week binge drinking habit
Not having to swear at women who are trying to kill me with their cars while putting on their make up using the rear view mirror…in rush hour traffic
I’m grateful for not having to spend all my time in an office with people I despise, doing a job I hate for a moron who doesn’t appreciate how much better than him I really am.
I’m grateful for silent alarm clocks and the noisy bird table outside my home office window.
I’m grateful for long weekends and cheap short haul flights.
I’m grateful for boring meetings (that I no longer have to attend).
I’m grateful for the fact that my industry is growing at close to 40% a year when most others are shrinking faster than a central bankers self confidence.
I’m grateful for my 30 second commute to work and the great food now served there.
I’m grateful for my childcare bill, my commuting bill and my work clothes bill. Long may they hover as low as my stress levels.
I’m grateful for mid morning golf, afternoon workouts and burning the midnight oil at work when I feel inspired.
Last, but not least, I’m grateful for never again having to choose between my child’s soccer game or recital and my next pay check. I’m also grateful for the fact they won’t be crying about my choice 20 years from now on a psychotherapists couch.

Multi Variate Testing Heaven
Posted by: | CommentsOne of the most critical parts of being successful online is to ensure your traffic converts to your most wanted response. In this post, we’ll be looking at what is possibly the best testing tool I have ever seen which allows you to test at light speed and massively increase your conversion rates.
It’s no secret that targeted traffic + a website which converts = CASH!
We all hear the gurus telling us that the money is in the list…but I beleive that it’s in the testing…which is necessary before the list can be built in an optimal way. If you arent testing for conversion, you are leaving a ton of money on the table…and that’s never good.
Initially, when I started testing my pay per click campaigns a few years ago, I used prosper202. It was ok. Then I began testing landing pages using other solutions which eventually led to Googles Website Optimizer. It was good…but it was also slow for a few tecnhical reasons. A lot of traffic was needed to generate meaningful results which meant that I wasn’t arriving at optimal results fast enough for my liking.
Then I found Split Test Accelerator. This tool has changed everything…and it’s done it fast!
Split test accelerator is a non factorial multi variate testing tool…and it’s worth a LOT of money to me today. It allows me to do several things.
- I can set up hundreds of thousands of variations of my landing pages on any domain I like in a couple of hours.
- Using this tool on client websites I’m able to deliver stunning initial conversion wins to them (to get them on board and continue to pay for testing).
- I can test copy, images and almost any other on page factor for myself and my clients
- The testing results are non factorial…meaning I can produce results many times faster than with Googles website optimizer.
The free version is pretty robust, but the real power is in the paid version. Its not cheap at just under $900, but when I showed it to my existing clients, the conversion rate to sales ($300 to set up and $200 run one robust test) was impressive. They immediately got how powerful it is to be able to test up to 4 million page variations against each other in a few hundred clicks on their landing pages.
So, whether you are using your own landing pages or providing this service to your clients, I strongly advise you to look at this tool. Split test accelerator is a fantastic tool to have in your bag…and it won’t cost you anything if you show it to your clients…they’ll gladly pay for it. You will make money for years to come by offering this as a service to your off line business clients.
